(Cont'd) Bob writes of cinematic and television history, personal experiences, and endless fond memories. Bob talks about how he and friends put together one of the first magazines that was for fans of horror and sci-fi --Fantastic Monsters of the Films (aka FanMo)--an education for would-be publishers. |
"IT CAME FROM BOBS BASEMENT" discusses how a movie titled, "King Kong," had a tremendous effect on a generation, and later made a monkey out of Bob as well. Bob even shares the "sad times" reminding us that even our "heros" had disappointments. |

Bob: "David Skal, (He did a lot of the wonderful video supplements for the Universal DVDs like FRANKENSTEIN, CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON, etc.), Ed Plumb, and Buddy Barnett (they produced the VAMPIRE HUNTERS CLUB)" |

IT CAME FROM BOBS BASEMENT,
presents us Bob the actor/entertainer, Bob the archivist of dreams that others would have
thrown in the trash, Bob the child in us all who never grew up, and Bob the neighbor who
threw Halloween Extravaganzas that were for anybody who wanted to come. (And they did
come, in droves!) Merely reading the index is like a WHOS WHO in Hollywood history. Academy Award winner Dennis Muren wrote the preface for the book. And yes alright the PHOTOS are fantastic too! |
When you read the book you feel as
if Bob is talking right to you, its very "first person" and Bob brings you
into these events like they just happened yesterday. You can feel Bob smiling because
youre smiling with fond memories too. Thats got to be at least part of the
reason we all love and cherish Bob--he makes us smile and it feels good. On that day in December at Dark Delicacies Bob was sharing more great times with us eager fans and friends--that just couldnt wait until the official release in March. More than a book signing, this was a time for reunions with both old and new friends, and Bob was once again surprised to find that he is both the host, and center of attention. He has touched our lives leaving everyone a little richer for having known him. Hes an all-around great guy and we wouldn't have it any other way. Submitted by Craig Endler |
